ASEAN Federation of Accountants

To provide an organisation for ASEAN Accountants for the further advancement of the status of the profession in the region with the view to establishing an ASEAN philosophy on the accounting profession.

Amendments to the AFA Constitution & AFA By-Laws and AFA Associate Membership Guideline

The AFA Council has approved several key amendments to the AFA Constitution & AFA By-Laws. The amendments were aimed at strengthening the Federations role and aspiration as the regional umbrella organisation for Professional Accountancy Organisations (PAOs) and accountants in Southeast Asia. The AFA Council acknowledges the importance for the Federation to be recognised as an organisation that represents the accountancy profession of the region. Participation and contribution from PAOs in the region is a key factor in ensuring the success of this aspiration.

The amendments will allow PAOs that are originated and based in ASEAN member states, and at a minimum is an IFAC Associate, to be considered as an AFA Associate Member.

As a result of the amendments to the AFA Constitution & AFA By-Laws, the AFA Associate Membership Guideline has also been amended to reflect the changes. This document serves as a guideline for PAOs who have interest in becoming an AFA Associate Member and contribute to the development of the accountancy profession in the region.
